Tam Giang Lagoon is a lagoon located in Tam Giang-Cau Hai Lagoon system. The area of Tam Giang Lagoon is about 52 km², stretching about 24 km west-northwest-east-southeast from the O Lau estuary to the Huong river mouth, in the territory of three districts namely Phong Dien, Quang Dien and Huong Tra in the Thua Thien Hue province. Tam Giang Lagoon has a depth of 2m to 4m, some points have depth of up to 7m, is a convergence of 3 big rivers: O Lau River, Huong River and Bo River before pouring into the sea through Thuan An estuary.
To get to Tam Giang Lagoon, you can go via Highway 49 or crept through the ancient villages from Hue city. But the most interesting thing is to take a boat from Vinh Tu wharf to discover the beauty of the lagoon and the features of the fishing villages.
